Q: How long does a treatment take?

A: For your first visit it is about 1 hour, top up's take 20 minutes.

 Q. Should teeth whitening be done by a Dentist?

A. Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non dental. The products we use are gentler

than and just as effective as those used by the dentist. All our products are Australian

compliant and produced to the highest standards. Teeth whitening, no matter who does

it bleaches stains from the surface of the teeth it does not whiten.

 Q: Is teeth whitening safe?

A: We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia. Our gel is gentle and safe, problems are extremely rare. Teeth Whitening is safe for crowns and veneers although these will not lighten as much as natural teeth.

Q: Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?

A: Teeth whitening is a treatment most people want and can have, however, it is not recommended for children under 16 years of age or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not have a teeth whitening treatment if you have gum disease or are requiring dental work.

Q. What’s the benefit of using an accelerator lamp with the teeth whitening gel?
A. Using an led teeth whitening machine accelerates the teeth whitening gel, causing it to react faster when breaking down stains.  This means that you can achieve the same result as would normally take weeks of daily treatment with whitening gel alone in a one-hour treatment.

Q: What are the benefits of doing an in-chair teeth whitening treatment vs. take home packs?

There are several benefits: you only need to stick to the 'white food diet' once instead of for weeks, you get instant results and less risk of sensitivity. Most people using home treatments get bored with the process before they attain maximum results.

Q. Why is peroxide whitening treatment done in 3 x 20-minute sessions instead of all at once?
A. After about 20 minutes the peroxide gel ‘peaks’.  This means it has completed the reaction for that application and very little stain breakdown will occur from this point.  This is why we completely remove one application prior to applying the next one to achieve maximum results.

Q: How long will a teeth whitening treatment last?

A: Teeth will maintain their fresh new appearance for around one year. Re-staining depends largely on diet and lifestyle. Smoking, coffee, tea, fruit juice, sodas all staining foods and beverages will eventually re-stain the surface of your teeth.

Q. What results can I expect?
A: You will get fantastic results from our treatment with results of 5 to 14 shades

whiter on untreated teeth.  However, results can be slightly reduced if you have

used any home whitening products or have had an in-chair treatment in the past

2 years. While most clients are thrilled with the results some can have unrealistic

expectations.  Teeth whitening will not produce paper white teeth like seen in the

movies, this is usually a result or having the surface of the teeth replaced with

porcelain veneers.  Teeth whitening will remove stains from the surface of the

teeth and return them to the colour they were originally grown. The more stained a person’s teeth the greater the result will be. It is important to remember results are very subjective as each individual is different.

Q. How many times per year can a client have in-chair teeth whitening treatment?
A: The ADIA recommends it is safe to have a teeth whitening treatment up to 3 times a year. If you are getting a treatment done this often you may only need one or two 20 minute sessions for maximum results.

Q. I want my teeth whiter, when can I have another treatment?
A: The time in between treatments is recommended to be about 4-6 weeks in between treatments. Keep in mind your teeth will only whiten to the colour they were originally grown.

Q. Is teeth whitening suitable for smokers?
A. Smokers will definitely benefit from teeth whitening treatment. In some cases where there is visible tar buildup on the teeth, it is recommended you have this removed by a dentist prior to having a teeth whitening treatment.

Q. How long do you have to wait after having braces removed before having a teeth whitening treatment?
A. There is no harm doing a treatment straight after braces are removed however the results may not be ideal.  The cement residue from the braces can last for 3-6 months.  It is best to allow at least this time to ensure the teeth whitening treatment has a clean tooth surface to work on.  If there is still cement on the teeth no whitening will occur where the cement residue is resulting in a patchy result.
